FDLK learning areas and the big ideas

This blog focus on 3 learning areas from the Full Day Kindergarten Curriculum, language/literacy, math and science. Under each of the learning areas there is a big idea. This big idea are how children learn within each area. Each activities and curriculum plan should take in consideration of these big ideas.

Language and Literacy big idea: Children are effective communicators. 

Math big idea: Young children have a conceptual understanding of mathematics and of mathematics thinking and reasoning.

Science big idea: Children are curious and connect prior knowledge to new contexts in order to understand the world around them.
