Big Idea: Life Cycle (Transformation)

The big idea on this curriculum blog is around transformation. How one thing transform into something new, and here I choose to plan the big idea of transformation around the life cycle of a salmon.

Not every child in the classroom will be interested in the transformation of a egg to a salmon, and this is where provocation comes into play. A provocation can be used to spark interest of children and provocation can also happen through play. Children learn best through their interest and they also learn very well through play. A mind map is posted below and other than exploring and investigating the life cycle of a salmon you can choose land animals or sea creatures with your class. The big idea is transformation but the science topic depends on the interest of your class. If your class is interested in learning and investing the life cycle of a salmon I hope this blog can give you some ideas to bring into your classroom.
